In 1997 ASIA began to work in the Dongche valley, in order to build an elementary school for Tibetan children from nomadic farmer families of the region.
Since then, we have continued to support the elementary school of Dongche, organising training courses for the teachers. In these years we have trained 564 Tibetan teachers to teach English and 68 computer science teachers.
The school is recognized for its high level of education and ensures that today over 250 children follow the curriculum of compulsory nine years. We want the young students of Dongche to become adults prepared and responsible adults, able to pass the difficult admission exam to attend university and get a job. This is why in 2014 we introduced an advanced English course to the school curriculum.
